It all started with a broken leg.
I am an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to 1st graders in a high-needs school district in New York. I love teaching ESL. My love for teaching through the creative arts (music, dance, drama, visual arts, videography) and using the latest technology in my classroom, lends itself naturally to best practices for English Language Learners (ELLs). I've always wanted to share my endeavors, creations and ideas with others, but as a full-time teacher, coordinator of several ESL programs (summer academy, after school), grants (CR Part 154, Title III) and working as the occasional educational consultant … who has the time?
Well, now I do.
I recently was at an awesome Holiday/Karaoke/Pajama Party and on my way out the door, I slipped down a couple of steps and managed to break my leg (I'll spare you the details… it was gross). Now I'm in the recovery stage. Which basically means, I can't go to work and I have an awful lot of time on my hands. Life gives you lemons… you make lemonade, right?
So here I am ready to start a blog. I also have spent a good amount of time researching selling digital lessons and teaching materials specifically for ELLs through TeachersPayTeachers.com (TPT). As soon as I have more materials available in my shop, I will be posting them here as well as on Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest.
